BEAUTY ROUTINE FOR THE LAZY GIRL/ GUY (Everyday Hacks)

I know every woman or ( man who actually cares) want amazing skin and that's super hard to achieve with the crazy hot climate or crazy work schedules. Let's not even talk about the fatigue you feel when you eventually get home. You just want to hit your bed and sleep off.

Now that's where I come in. If you absolutely want to GLOW and you hate working out ,then YOU are in the RIGHT place.

I am going to tell you how you can get an amazing skin without having to do much.
Won’t that be super amazing?? πŸ˜‰ you said Super COOL right?  Yeah. I think so too.
Now without further ado.. Let's get started.

1)HYDRATE: I know this sounds so CLICHE and everyone tells you this but you think they are exaggerating. They are really NOT. It's an absolute MUST! You must take lots of water daily. This washes out the toxins from your body.Water also detoxifies your organs and makes sure every organ is working perfectly by making it stress less. When you take toxins and don’t hydrate, it makes your organs overwork to get rid of those TOXINS in the body.
Our skin is the largest organ in the body and therefore reflects everything you do to it. This my friend includes what you eat, drink or more.
If you are a Smoker or non-smoker. You have to learn to take lots of water and Watermelons (they are extremely hydrating and super nutritious). They have to be your best friend because smoking dries you from the insides out.
Even Skincare lines are all trying to make water based products as a form of anti-aging. This is to show you that Hydration is the NUMBER  ONE  rule to Anti-aging.

2.)  MOISTURIZE :- Secondly if you are like me and tend to not take lots of water because you constantly forget to due to your work schedule. I have an alarm to remind me to take water and I still don't ever get to it..lol. πŸ™ˆThat's not so good but we can work around it.

What you have to do is learn to MOISTURIZE often. This goes for both your face and body. Now when I say moisturize, I do not mean those harsh creams that are all over the counter used for toning, bleaching etc.

Those creams tend to dry you out and do nothing for your skin except bleach/tone. Some products that tone gradually actually contain lots of moisture but they are very rare (not hard to come by though) because almost everyone wants the quick action creams… and they do more harm than good.

If you are a light -skinned black girl and you need a balance. A good hydrating cream with toning effects will be perfect for you. Shea moisture has great products for that. (I absolutely get nothing for this, just trying to help a sister out.. ). You must use a face cream (with SPF -sun protection or a Sunscreen by itself EVERYDAY. It's a MUST!. You use a good repair night cream (Anything with collagen, Vit E, A, not C.) before you go to bed every night or at least five times out of seven days in a week.

Secondly, always check cream contents before you buy. Make sure it's fragrance, paraben and alcohol free. They only work temporarily but damage your skin in the long run.
Fragrance irritates your skin. Especially if you have sensitive skin. Stay away from them.

3.) HABITS:
Never drag around your eyes either while doing makeup or removing it or scrubbing at it like some people do when it itches. The eyes are always the first place to show signs of ageing  followed by your neck. As we get older, the body produces less collagen and thus the expansion and contraction in the same spot everyday is bound to give fine lines. For example, if you are someone who smiles a lot.
You are more likely to get fine lines in the same area you do everyday. I'm not saying don't smile, all I am saying is try to be aware and maybe not a very wide grin all the time.😊

If you are also like myself, that loves sucking on a straw, maybe get a glass cup instead. Sucking on a straw gives fine lines around the mouth area.

Paying the same attention to the neck like the face. A lot of us are guilty of this, you scrub, tone and moisturise your face often but ignore your neck and decotteleage zone (line between your boobs). If only you know that this area tends to show wrinkles faster than any part of you. You don't want your face all young and fresh while your neck and chest is not. So remember to show your neck some love everytime you do for the face. Be it, scrub, toners, creams or oils. It is absolutely necessary!

4).EASY NIGHT ROUTINE : Develop nightly routines that are easy to keep. Examples are:

I) Sleeping on your back overnight.
If you are one of those people who always wakes up with an eye bag, this is best for you. When you sleep with your head raised up (with a pillow of course) . It stops blood from accumulating under the eyes. It's an old Asian trick. This makes sure you wake up with less swollen eyes. One less thing to worry about.. Whew. If you do FORGET to, just place a tea spoon in the fridge immediately you wake, let it cool while you get ready. Use under the eyes after spending a couple of minutes in the fridge.  This is an old trick to reduce eye bags.
Cucumber slices are another alternative ,although you may not be able to use that while trying to get ready in the morning(You can do that weekends).
Note:- Do this before applying makeup!

ii) Try to change sleeping positions. Sleeping on the same side every night is sure to age that side compared to the other side of your face. If possible sleep on your back. It's always the best as face products you use at night works better without getting in your pillow and your face won't get wrinkles easily.

iii) Use silk/satin sheets not cotton:- Now I know most of us were raised on cotton undergarments or sheets. Cotton has been proven to give fine lines (Your favorite celebs and royals know this..lol). Silk and satin bed spreads /pillows are softer and less harsh on the skin. If you are a natural hair goddess, this is a must. Cotton pillowcases /bed spread breaks natural hair by drying it up more due to the friction..and we cannot all be perfect night sleepers as there will be days when your satin cap comes off at night while you are deep in your sleep. This is why it's a good choice to use Satin/silk cause it causes less friction to hair and skin.

iv) Wear Aloe Vera on your face overnight:-
Aloe Vera is a universal life saver. keeps your skin blemish free (google the advantages of aloe-vera).
If you have oily, acne-prone skin or even combination skin (oily T-zone area) (check my previous post for different types of skin). Then Aloe Vera is perfect for you.  Apart from using it overnight, it can be worn as a PRIMER. Yeah, you heard that right. Aloe-vera is great for priming the skin before you wear your foundation and does not let it cake.. If you are a guy,you can wear it as soon as you step in the door from a long day and wash off in the morning. Gives you clearer, dryer skin easily! Instead of trying to extract the aloe Vera plant if that's not convenient. You can buy man made ones. It's sold at retail supermarkets near you.

v) Going to bed with a Squeaky clean face :This may sound like its obvious to some of us but a lot of us are still guilty of not taking off our makeup or washing our face before bed. You must NEVER FORGET  take off your makeup off before you hit the sheets no matter how tired you are. Chemicals in your makeup will damage your skin while you are asleep. Everything works better (I.e your serums, toners  and night creams etc)when you are asleep. That's why it's advised to use products at night. Imagine if the wrong thing was doing that (e.g makeup).
If you know you get very tired or lazy and jump into bed right as you walk in,get wipes by your nightstands or bed. Although, this is enough in your early 20's, you may need more than this if you are older. Means you have to wash your face, tone and moisturise before you sleep every night. If you are really lazy or tired.. At least make sure you wash your face alone EVERY NIGHT before bed!

5.) USE SUN PROTECTION:- We cannot talk about clear skin or ageing right without using a good sunscreen protection. This involves anytime you want to go out. If you go to the beach, re-apply as often as you want to make sure it's still effective. Sunscreens of over 50 spf + if you live in hot regions or are over the age of 20 with UVA/UVB protection (check my previous post for more on this).  The only time you do not need a sunscreen is when you are indoors all day.Yes, wear it even when you think the sun is not that bright. It's still harmful for your skin.
Anything less than this is also effective but not full protection, you need Spf 35+. Some sunscreens are stronger than others and the pack may not reflect it. Google reviews before you buy. Nothing ages anyone faster than the sun..It is responsible for age spots, fine lines /wrinkles and a dull skin. You see why sun screens are a must? Also if you can get a big hat/umbrellas or even scarves to protect your skin before stepping out. Do that, it helps!

I cannot wait to talk about toners and serums soon. What they are? and how to use them?

6) incorporate oils into your beauty regimen. Carrier oils like grape seed oil(sensitive skin) and almond oil which is good for dark eye circles and intense moisturising of your skin.
